Cocoon #2

Hello there and Happy Monday! This week I'm bringing you another instalment of cocoon images with the really big body-sized sock thing. In the last post (which you can read by clicking here) I showed you some studio images of me in it, but this time it's a location shoot. These images are from a shoot I did towards the end of last year with Scott who goes by MCCCXIV Photography. It was bloody freezing, we were in a graveyard, and we had an absolute blast. if you like these images and want to see more of my work with Scott, you can read the post from our first shoot last year by clicking here.

Scott shoots on a Canon EOS 80D and if you'd like to check out more of his work then I strongly suggest you go find him on PurplePort, Instagram or Youtube. He's shot with loads of really great models (including me obviously) and has some amazing images in his portfolio. If you're a fan of AI art, then you can check out his AI account on Instagram too. But back to Misuzu...

Graves

Okay, so we shot this stuff after Halloween, but I guess we were still in the spooky season mindset because after we had shot some of the more pretty stuff around the pretty building, we decided to shoot the cocoon stuff in the graveyard that was attached to the location. I like these because they have more of a story to them than when I shoot this concept in the studio. In the studio, the focus is on shape and light (which I love, don't get me wrong) but shooting in a graveyard created more of a narrative. And of course, shape and light still plays a part.

To me, these images seem fitting for spooky season because they're almost like a ghost or a spirit trying to escape into our world. Or maybe I just have an overactive imagination. I'd like to do some similar shots to this but add in a smoke machine or smoke bombs and maybe shoot it at night or in lower light levels to add more atmosphere. The light that day was really good, it was a super lovely day (despite it being chilly), but it would definitely be cool to explore the same concept in moodier light.

Monochrome

As we all know, this concept works really well in black and white. Scott sent me the colour and monochrome edits for these shots and I definitely have a preference for the black and white for these ones.

I think the doorway and the surrounding architecture suits monochrome generally, so adding in the model and the big stretchy sock thing definitely works. I just love the shape on this last one:

Hats

I can count on Scott to add something extra to the mages we shoot, and I will admit I was skeptical when he suggested adding the hats into this set (I don't really do hats) but it just worked so well. It was interesting trying to shoot these though as I obviously couldn't put the hat on myself when I was inside the thing, and moving around is difficult when you're in it anyway (cue awkward shuffling around) but with teamwork, we made it happen and I'm obsessed with how these turned out.

And because he bought multiple hats with him, it would have been rude not to use more than one of them!

And that's all from me for this week. I appreciate you taking the time to read my posts every week. Don't forget to follow me on social media if you're not already on: Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and sign up for an account on my site so you can leave comments.
