End of Summer: MCCCXIV

Hello and Happy Monday!

Now that Spooky Season is done, I'm bringing you some images from a shoot I did in September that is making me miss Summer so much now that I've had to put the heating on again.

This shoot was with in September with a photographer called Scott. He goes by the name MCCCXIV.photography and it was our first shoot together (we actually had a second shoot yesterday). Scott was great to work with and we were getting some really great images from the minute we started shooting (not just because of his amazing taste in biscuits). We had a fun few hours exploring an abandoned barn and wandering around the woods (I seem to spend an alarmingly large amount of time wandering around the woods with strange men don't I?) shooting a mix of art nude and fashion nude. We also had a play around with his drone, and I've included a drone video at the end of this post from that day too.

I wanted to share some of these images with you because I think they're absolutely fantastic. After our shoot, Scott sent me a lot of images and they were all really good, so choosing just a few for this post was particularly difficult. Usually I have a strong preference for black and white images but for most of these, I actually prefer the colour versions because the way he's edited them just really bring out those colours of late summer that work perfectly for art nude imagery. You'll see what I mean when we get to the images. Scott shoots on a Canon EOS 80D.

Derelict

Our first stop was in a little abandoned barn that you might recognise from my work before. It's fairly local to me, easy to access and produces great images. I used one of my favourite Vinted finds to shoot some fashion nude in the light coming through the doorway:

Then we switched it up to my oversized white shirt, which works well for shots like this:

Tree

After shooting in the barn, we did some drone work outside of it and then moved on to the woods, where we pretty much just wandered around until we found nice trees for me to pose with. I love woodland art nude because a nude body in nature just fits so well, especially when I get to pose in ways that minic the lines of the trunks and branches. I enjoy trying to figure out how to pose with the tree. Here are a couple of my favourites:

Then we added in some of the tops to turn them into fashion nude, to add a bit of something. I love how incidental these two shots feel because of the way the clothes are open, especially in the second one:

Sunlit Tree

After walking a little further into the woods, we found some ferns (yey) and the sun way hitting the tree in the most perfect place for my to pose against it among the ferns. Again we went for fashion nude here:

Crouch

After I had climbed out of the ferns, we found another tree that we liked and I was crouching down by it. We took a lot of images here: some with the top on and some nude, and some crouched away from the tree, leaning my back against it and turning with my back to the camera. It's cool how much of a variety of shots you can get in one place with one main pose with slight variations. I'll be honest though, it killed my ankles but it was 100% worth it for the images. There were a lot that I really liked from this set, totally worth aching for! Here are a few of my favourites:

Kimono

This kimono style top/dress thing is another item I like to shoot in. It works really well in nature and can be used for completely clothed shots as it fastens at the front, but it works so well for fashion nude too as it just hangs nicely. In this first shot, I love how it's implied nude by gently holding it to my body, compared to the second one where I'm wearing it open and it just accentuates the body shape and adds a bit of something extra to a classic art nude pose:

Nude

As I said before, I generally prefer black and white shots, especially for nude, but only included one so far because the colour edits were really lovely from this shoot. I think it's because the autumn colours had started to come through a little and it complements my skin so well. This set was one we shot towards the end of our time together, and I really think the monochrome edits for this were a lot stronger. I really love the shapes I made here and they are very classic art nude:

Drone

As promised, here is the drone video we got that day outside the barn. Shooting with a drone was a lot of fun. In this one, I was laying down in the sun and had to keep my eyes closed, so I was just guessing where the drone was and how far away it was! It was a lot of fun, especially for me as I haven't done a lot of video work:

If you like these images, then go check out more of Scott's work. He's shot with loads of really great models and has some amazing images in his portfolio, so go and give him a follow. You can find him on:

And if you like AI art, then definitely check out his AI account on Instagram too!

And that's all from me for this week, see you next Monday :)

This was such a great shoot! It definitely had that "end of summer" feel, but also the beginning of something else... the opportunity to exchange creative ideas and plan future shoots with such a great model! I'm looking forward to many more with you Misuzu 🥰
