Throwback: Aphrodite 2018
Hello and Happy Monday!
This week, I am bringing you some images from my second trip to Greece in April 2018. I recently wrote a subscriber post about my first trip and you can read that if you're signed up by clicking here (or you can sign up if you want to read it!). But anyway, after visiting Greece the first time and getting some truly wonderful images back, I had to return for a second visit but this time for more time. It was another wonderful trip bringing more learning, exploring and adventures... as well as many more stunning images of course. And that was down to the photographer Patrick (Garden of the Muses) with his amazing archeology knowledge and endless supply of wonderful locations.
All of the images in this post were taken at a place that we stumbled across by accident while looking for something else. I can't even remember what it was we were looking for or if we even found it. I just remember that we were walking for ages and whatever we were hoping to find that day didn't seem to materialise. We were at the point of nearly giving up when we saw some ruins and came off the path to look at them. I remember Patrick saying something along the lines of 'this looks like the ruins of a temple' and then, 'I'm sure there was supposed to be a temple to Aphrodite around here somewhere'.
I genuinely felt a connection to this place for some reason and just had to take some photos. It had a different feel to it and I'm not sure what that was, other than that I liked being there. We stayed for a while and both got some images. When we got back to the flat afterwards, Patrick did some research and found out that it was indeed the ruins of a temple to Aphrodite. The goddess of love and beauty. It was an honour to be able to shoot there and I'll always remember it.
Here are some of the images:
Dress
I had this lovely plain white dress with me that had a Grecian feel to it, and I'm so glad I had taken it with me that day because it worked perfectly here.
I love the colour versions because the red of the poppies looks really pretty, but the monochrome versions have that timeless feel to them, which works well in this setting.
Nudes
Of course doing some nudes there felt important. I think Aphrodite would have approved!

The monochrome edit was my favourite, but here are some different art nude poses too.
Self Portraits
As I said, I took some of my own images there too. I hadn't bought a tripod with me, but there was no way I was leaving the location without at least attempting some self portraits. They're not the best but I'm still really happy with them. Especially considering where I was on my photography journey at the time. I loved the colours of the poppies everywhere and just how wild the location was. It was really beautiful and fitted nicely with the fact it was a temple to Aphrodite.
Finding this place by accident was one of the highlights of the trip for me. thank you Aphrodite for letting me borrow your temple, and thank you Patrick for the amazing experience of shooting in Greece twice.
That's all from me for today. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy your bank holiday <3
