Happy Monday!
I'm super excited about today's blog post. We had a fantastic workshop on Saturday and I really wanted to share some of the images that have already come back from it. This does mean that there may be more images that the photographers edit in the future since these are just the first edits to come back, but they're all so good and I just couldn't wait to share them.
Before I jump in with the photographs let me tell you who was there. I will share their social media links with you at the end if you want to give any of them a follow (and I'm certain that you will after seeing the wonderful work that these guys did on Saturday!)
Obviously Dave Edkins was there as it would be a pretty rubbish workshop without him since we run them together. There aren't many images from him in this post as he only used his camera to take some test shots, but he still managed to get some lovely photos.
Rhianne was there if you remember the post I did for International Women's Day this year featuring her work... She's still as wonderfully talented as ever, of course.
We had another photographer called Dave there who I have worked with in the past. His name is Dave Gibson (I will refer to him as Dave G in this post). I hadn't worked with him for years so it was lovely to have him there. He is also a very talented photographer who has done some wonderful photography over the years.
The next photographer was someone I hadn't met before called Simon. Simon is fairly new to the world of model photography specifically, but is a very talented and experienced photographer. From working with him on Saturday and seeing the images he sent after the workshop, you'd never be able to tell he's only recently started model photography.
We had another of our workshop regulars there, also called Dave but he isn't present online unfortunately so there will be no images from him in this post. It was a very Dave-heavy workshop on Saturday.
Anyway, on to some of the results from the day... I've displayed the different sets in the order they were shot, so each section will feature several photographers. I have chosen to end each section on my favourite shot of the set (well, favourite shot so far, of course as I didn't really give them time to go through their images properly).
Pink Dress
I really love just how many of the images from this workshop ended up in black and white, as I adore black and white photography. But first, let's start with a bit of colour: my new pink dress. If you follow me on social media, you may have seen this dress before as I wore it for a princess tea party on Easter Sunday with my daughter and I posted a selfie on my Instagram.
I genuinely love this dress and these shots did not disappoint. First off, here are a couple of shots from Simon that really show off the dress:
And some gorgeous shots from the waist up by Dave G that have a lovely feminine feel to them:
I was happy to see a black and white conversion from Dave G as well, because you know... I love my b&w shots, and this one is my fave:

Black Bodystocking
After shooting the pink dress, we moved onto the corrugated backdrop at ARB to get some more edgy shots, which was a stark contrast to the pretty pink and girly set.
This first shot is from Rhianne, and honestly I wasn't sold on it at first because I didn't really like my expression. The more I looked at it though, the more I really did like it. The expression is such a difference to the softer shots from before as it's got a fierceness to it which pairs up nicely with the outfit and the background.

Next up are some images from Simon. I really love the contrast on these as it works well with the outfit and the poses feel quite powerful.
This final image from Simon and is my favourite, I just love everything about it:

Rainbow Bodystocking and Smoke Bubbles
This next set adds another splash of colour to this blog post, as it features the rainbow bodystocking. It would have been rude to convert these to black and white really. But more important than my outfit choice here, is the debut of Dave's super cool bubble/smoke machine thing. It was so much fun to play with that I wasn't able to get many serious shots because firstly, you can't control where the bubbles go so it was a bit trial and error. Secondly, it was just loads of fun so I really struggled to stay serious (like, how can you be serious when you get to pop bubbles filled with smoke?!). But anyway, it's a miracle we got any useable shots here at all because of me, but we did!
Here's one from Rhianne where we managed to catch a smoke bubble before it popped, and a reasonably serious face from me. I love the warm tones Rhianne added to this shot:

Next are some from Simon. The first image was well timed as I was about to catch a bubble, but you can tell I'm trying so hard not to giggle. The second shot here just looks super cool because one bubble had just popped so there's some smoke, and there were several more bubbles in the shot. And I had a reasonable look on my face too.
Finally, here are a couple of shots from Dave Edkins with lots of smoke bubbles, where I'm clearly not taking the whole thing seriously at all:
Standing Bodyscapes
Now we will move on to the bodyscapes. We did a standing set first and then a set with me lying down on a table. You get very different shape on the body depending how the model is positioned, so the light falls quite differently too. I love working with this kind of light because you can get drastically different images with just a small movement of your body. This means that you have to work together as model and photographer to get the really striking shots and they all nailed it at the workshop.
This first image is one from Dave G:

And here are a couple from Simon. I adore the anonymity of bodycape shots. As shown here, where Simon changed the orientation of one of the images, you can make them even more abstract by adapting the way the image is viewed.
This style of dark and moody photography is what both me and Rhianne adore, so I knew the shots from her would be lovely. The first image I love because it really takes dark and moody to the extreme... but the second one is my favourite because it still has a softness to the posing, which worked really well with the light.
Bodyscapes
On to the reclined bodyscapes. The lighting for this type of bodyscape is a strip softbox above the model and give such strikingly beautiful images. I don't have much to say about each shot here, so I'll just let you know who took which one.
Here are a couple of lovely shots from Dave Edkins. First just a normal bodyscape and one with a really cool geometric design on it (he nows I'm a fan of those edits):
And one from Rhianne:

Then my favourite from this set is the one from Simon. I love how the light falls, the shape of the body and the textures on the skin:

Bodyscapes and Smoke
After we shot some bpdyscapes, we added in some smoke to give an extra bit of something to the shots. It worked really well, especially when they were converted to black and white. This first shot was from Simon (again, I'm really loving the high contrast):

And here is one from Dave G that has a softer feel to it but I love the posing as it gives a lovely shape to the body:

And finally, my favourite of the smoky bodyscapes is this one from Rhianne. She managed to take something abstract like a bodyscape and make it even more abstract. I just love how she does that:

THIS IS THE WAY
As always, ending on a (sort of) outtake. Here's one from Rhianne, where we decided to pair the pink dress with a Mandalorian helmet. We are both nerds with a great sense of humour, so it just made sense...

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you've enjoyed seeing these images as much as we all enjoyed shooting them. If you'd like to follow any of the wonderful people I've mentioned here and check out more of their work (which I strongly suggest that you do!) here are their links:
