Throwback: 2016… Part II
Updated: Aug 31
Hello and Happy Monday!
As a follow on from Saturday's throwback to 2016 subscriber post, this post is a years worth of weird outfits from 2016. I hope you enjoy looking through these images :)
I mostly shoot my own outfits now and obviously I do
a lot of art nude work, so I don't tend to shoot in weird outfits as much these days. Which is a shame on one hand but also, I've been asked to wear some absolutely horrific things over the years so in some ways, I'm kinda grateful!
But anyway, lets step back 10 years to some cool, strange and creative outfits I wore that year!
January
To start off, here is a shot from Neil taken at a group shoot in January 2016. I wish I had the colour version of this image because the reason this outfit is in here is because those shorts were the brightest turquoise you could imagine. I loved those shorts SO much!

February
In February 2016, I got this shot with Lightyear. I talked a bit more about this shoot in the subscriber post from Saturday, but here is the fully facebook friendly version. I adore this dress because it's so versatile. I actually have it in two colours and have used it a lot over the years. You can do so many creative things with it (as you will see a little further down this post in April).

March
This next outfit from a shoot with Brian Cooper upset a stranger on the internet a decade ago. I love the dress, I think it's very cleverly made and worked really well for these shots withe the cigarettes (again, smoking is bad so don't do it unless it's to look cool for a photo).
According to Random Stranger on the Internet 2016, wearing this outfit meant that God hates me and I would be going to hell... I attempted to engage this person in conversation about why he felt that way, but as you can imagine, it was rather pointless. My best guess was that he took a dislike to the amount of skin showing, so I can only laugh at the idea of just how offended he would have been by the rest of my work! I am dedicating this blog post to Random Stranger on the Internet 2016, since most of the images in it are Facebook friendly.
April
April 2016 bought another shoot with Brian Cooper. Shoots with Brian often bought loads of wonderful outfits: sometimes pretty or glamorous and sometimes silly. I always looked forward to our shoots and was excited to find out what weird and wonderful outfits we would be trying. This first image was a lovely black top paired with one of my skirts, and then that dress from February again. I enjoy seeing these two images together because the same necklace is part of both images but the effect it has on the image is different for each outfit.
I also shot with Kevin Sheldon in the April. There will be a few of his images in this post because like Brian, he always has lots of wonderful outfits to experiment with. These two shots feature a cute Boho crop top with pink high waisted shorts, next to an awesome 70s style blouse and green velvet jacket paired with a mustard yellow suspender belt.
Then a location shot with Jonas Bee wearing a little black dress with a (fake, obviously) fur coat and latex stockings. They were interesting to wear, so I felt like this image needed to be in this blog for that reason.

And from another location shoot, this time with photographer Chris Corlett. This has a totally different vibe to it as the outfit this time was a lovely hooded blue cloak. I loved posing in this cloak, it felt like I was some sort of powerful Druid or Earth Witch. I have a great imagination, I suppose thats part of why I enjoy my work so much!
May
Another hippy style shot in May: I absolutely adored this dress, and it worked so wonderfully in the bluebells with a flower headband and boho necklace. I included the art nude version next to a shot of the dress because the accessories also worked really well on their own in this type of shot without the dress.
After we shot in the bluebells, we went to the caves to shoot this next outfit. It worked really well as a topless shot and I really liked this outfit (even though I'm not much of a hat person). A boater hat, red wedge shoes and a red waistcoat. It worked really well for a quirky image.

June
And more on the theme of me not being a hat person, here is a very orange shot from Patrick Hickey. Hat, gloves, stockings and shoes, plus some photoshop for a very 1950s/60s look.
July
To contrast the retro look above, here is a shot from Kevin Sheldon in oversized dungarees taken at a random barn in the middle of nowhere. I'm nothing if not versatile!

August
Next up is a shot of a dress we fashioned from a skirt provided by the photographer Derwood, paired with a top of mine. I think it worked really well and looked great in the setting of the derelict factory.
The the following shot was taken by Mick Szabo in the woods: more orange but this time a crocheted beach dress. This looked really cool paired with the oversized sunglasses, and we got some shots of it by a pool and waterfall, but I preferred the shots of it in the woods. I like when the outfit is incongruous with the setting because it raises questions about the image and makes you look at it for longer.
September
On a trip to Wales with Kevin Sheldon in September 2016, we shot a lot of different outfits at various locations we visited throughout the day. It was a lot of fun, and these are my two favourite shots: first up the green velvet that I wore indoors in April and an amazing pink dress. This dress was mine and I loved wearing it for shoots. It was totally impractical for actually wearing though as you were always in danger of a boob falling out if you moved wrong. But it looked super cute so, worth it.
October
A sunny but chilly location shoot with SD Photography in October 2016, featuring the tiny turquoise shorts on Short Street (because we are hilarious), then a red dress on a bottle kiln. Because you know, Stoke.
November
Some cute trousers shot in a mirror in a shoot with Kevin Sheldon in November 2016.

December
And to finish up, a shoot in December with Nigel, featuring a thick scarf and gloves because it was a cold and frosty day. The weather won't stop us from creating... we will just adjust the outfits, props or themes :)

Thanks for joining me in this post today, and I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of these outfits. I hope you have a beautiful week ahead of you. Until next Monday!

It would be far too predictable and cliched of me to say "I didn't recognise you with your clothes on" so I'm definitely not going to say that, nope, not a chance! It's great to see the range and variety of your work in these images, and much more of the same standard and quality over the ten years since they were taken!
