That Black Top

Hello and Happy Monday!
This week I'm bringing you some more images taken by the wonderful Dave Edkins. Here are his links again incase you're silly enough to not be following him by now: Instagram, Threads, PurplePort and E-photozine.
The images I'll be sharing with you today were taken in December last year when we finally shot something that we had been meaning to do for a while: it is a particular black top. Dave kept requesting that I bring 'that black top' with me to our shoots because he had been wanting to shoot me in it for years. Bear in mind, this is a top I bought back when I first started modelling in 2015 so it's been on his 'to shoot' list for a while. As you will see, it's just a black crochet style crop top and worn with nothing under it, it creates fashion nude images. Every time we worked together, I either had forgotten to bring it with me, or we got distracted shooting other things and never ended up using it. Literally for years.
We finally shot it a few months ago and the images didn't disappoint. These images were taken by Dave on his Nikon D850 camera and I edited them for this post.
Contrast
First off, here are some images with high contrast. I think I used to edit images a lot more contrasty than I do now, unless it's a proper dark and moody image. But on a classic white studio background image, it's not something I do a lot of in my edits anymore. But with the black being the focus of these images, I think it worked quite well for these shots.
In terms of posing, I quite like the eye contact with the camera on these next two images (and with slightly less contrast on the final one).
Fade
I've been really enjoying adding a sort of faded look to a lot of the images I edit recently. I think I love it so much because it softens the whole image. I like the effect of making the image look more drastically faded like in these first two images:
But also, I think a subtle fade can soften the whole image without losing too much of the contrast and impact on the final edit like in these next two:
Colour
I enjoy playing around with colour a lot, especially on shots with a white studio background. I think it adds something extra without it looking too weird. Here are some cooler images with a bluish tint to them:
But then, you can add even more colour into it, or add colour over an image that was converted to black and white to make a more pronounced effect. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly something different and interesting. Here are two pinkish ones:
Monochrome
Finally, some black and whites. I do love a good black and white conversion. A white studio background with a black top lends itself nicely to a monochrome image.
Here are some slightly darker black and white conversions. I adore the pose in that last image and I think it's my favourite shot of this whole post. It's also the only image that's landscape as the rest of them are portrait. I don't think that's relevant in the slightest, just an observation.
And that's all from me for this week. Incase you missed it, I posted a subscriber-only blog yesterday with images from my tour of Ireland back in 2019. If you wanted to sign up and read that, you can do so from £5 a month: just click here and follow the links to the payment plans section (then you can explore the subscriber only posts that are available so far by clicking here).
Have a wonderful week and I look forward to sharing more of my work with you next Monday!

Gorgeous pictures and the way the contrast and colour balance changes the mood of each one is super cool!
