Spooky Season: Part II

Updated: Nov 3, 2025

Happy Wednesday Ghosts and Ghouls!

The Misuzu Monday Blog for this week is split into two parts as there were too many images to choose from so you get two posts this week. Part II is not safe for work (nsfw), so if you’d like to see the safe for work (sfw) images, click here to see Part I from Monday if you haven’t already!

All of the images here were taken by Dave Edkins at ARB Studio in Longton, on a Halloween shoot that we did ahead of the Halloween group shoots we ran. We messed around with our ideas to decide which sets would work best for the event. All of these images are ones I edited (I'm going to start harassing Dave for some of his edits for next week's blog, including some shots he took on the group shoots too!) Dave shoots on a Nikon D850, for those interested.

Morticia

The dress I wore for these shots was one I bought a while back and never got chance to wear. I wasn't 100% sold on it in all honesty but I showed it to Dave and he assured me it would work... and he was so right. I loved this set because it really does scream Morticia. It wasn't intentional but we both agreed when we looked through the images that it has that look.

I really loved the way Dave set up the lights here as it gave really lovely contrast. Editing these images was super easy as they were already pretty much how I like them! Also worth giving a shout out to the skeleton that we affectionately named Herbert... he is now my new boyfriend!

Barn

We couldn't resist using the creepy barn setting for a few art nudes because it would have been rude not to. I was quite precariously balanced on top of those bales there but I think I managed to pull it off.

I really like bringing classical art nude poses to themes like this because it matches up beauty and story perfectly.

Blood

And now, on to my favourite set of the lot. When I first suggested a Halloween themed group shoot to Dave, I immediately told him that I wanted to end up covered in fake blood. This first image is my favourite of the lot. I just love the way this edit came out, and it's completely Facebook friendly too!

Misuzu covered in splashes of fake blood. Her hands are covered in fake blood and she is staring at the camera. It is a letterbox style shot from just above her head to just above her chest.

This next one on the left is a wider shot of a similar image, next to a more classical art nude pose on the right... but with fake blood! I like the contrast of a classical pose with the gore of the blood because it makes for a really interesting image.

Because my hands were completely covered in fake blood, I tried to pose in ways that would show off the fact that we were shooting something a bit more gory. The next two images have my hands posed in ways that just wouldn't work for straight forward art nude. My right hand in the image on the left doesn't at all look graceful, but due to the blood, that position really works. Similarly in the image on the right, a palm facing the camera rarely works for art nude, but apparently it does if you're covered in blood.

And finally, the last two images in this set. It was so much fun messing around with unusual posing for this set because of the unusual nature of being covered in fake blood. And the image on the right, I really like because of the expression and eye contact with the camera (which I rarely do for normal art nude shots).

Final note: the blood washed off easily even though me and Dave went to Starbucks after the shoot so it was on me for a while. On the group shoots, we added a second type of blood that did not wash off as easily. Oops. Also, I ended up collecting my daughter covered in fake blood three times... and she didn't bat an eyelid once.

Outtake

To end this blog post, Here's an outtake of me trying to be serious and spooky while Dave was making me laugh:

Misuzu sat in a cobweb covered barn setting wearing a black dress and smiling

Just a little reminder that if you're not having fun shooting, then you're doing it wrong! Dave is fantastic to shoot with and you can find him at any of the links below fi you're a model and want to work with him, or a photographer and want to check out his work with some other absolutely fantastic models:

Also, give me a follow on Instagram or Facebook if you aren't already!

And that's all from me for this week. I hope you've enjoyed a double blog post week, and I appreciate you taking the time to read my posts and look at my images.

There's still time to book me for a Halloween shoot if you're a photographer and want some spooky (or silly) images. Contact me here or on any of my social media if you're interested!

Until next Monday, enjoy spooky season! Misuzu x
