Misuzu Photography: More Macro

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today I'm sharing some more of my macro photography with you. As it's my new toy, I'm going to be obsessed with it for a little while so that means more macro related blog posts. I'm really enjoying getting to grips with how it works and experimenting with it because it’s exciting. I'm looking forward to sharing my latest images with you, these were taken a couple of weeks ago when me and Dave Edkins went for a wander with our cameras (and Pixie came along too).

Bugs

I managed to capture these little cuties. The ladybird was in a really sunny patch and I didn't manage to change my settings before it flew away so it was a little over exposed... I'm still happy with the image I was able to capture though. The bee in the next image was being very evasive and was clearly camera shy (well, I know she was just busy collecting pollen but still!) but I managed to sneak a photo of her tucked away inside a plant!

It's really cool to be able to capture detail in the camera that you struggle to see with your eyes. It makes me think about the fact that there's so many amazing things around us that we don't get to see properly. More reason to do more macro photography really.

Bench

I was loving the textures on this metal bench. I used it as a background to photograph a leaf that Pixie brought to me and you'll see those images in a moment.

Berries

These berries were difficult to photograph because they were over my head and I had to faff around trying to get the settings right on my camera and then to focus properly. I'm pleased that I managed to get an image that I was actually really happy with.

Blooms

Okay so this section is just flowers but all the other sections started with the letter B and it seemed a shame to have one section let the team down. So here are some flowers for you to look at, with increasing levels of desaturation as you go from left to right.

I loved the vibrance of the red of the first one so I increased the saturation a tiny bit to make it pop a little more. I found that the droplets of water were more visible with a little bit of desaturation on the second image, so I went with that. The final image was desaturated more because I think the colour looked better when it was softened out a bit.

Bark

Like I said in my last macro blog post, I love capturing textures and bark is perfect for that. I spent ages with a tree stump and managed to get lots of different images. When you're looking at things this close up, each tiny bit can look completely different.

I was also really enjoying playing around with the depth of field here too, trying to capture just a small section of the image in focus.

Brown Leaf

I sat for quite a while playing with a leaf on a bench. I was enjoying shooting something still where the light wasn't changing constantly... it meant that I was able to get to grips with the lens a little better and explore a bit more with it.

And it meant that I was able to get some even closer up shots that I'm very proud of!

And of course, a colour vs black and white shot is a must for a Misuzu Monday Blog post:

Buddies

Pixie rarely stayed still enough for me to capture her with the macro lens on, but I was able to get a sneaky photo when she was sat down for a brief moment!

And I also got a sneaky photo of Pixie having a natter with her Aunty Dave, who is one of her besties!

Beer and Chess

And the best way to end a photography walk is in the pub playing chess, of course. Never play chess against Dave though, he's too good.

And that's all from me for today! I hope you're enjoying the cooler weather and getting excited for all things Autumn <3 Until next Monday!
