Throwback: Fantasy
Hello and Happy Monday!
This week I am bringing you some images from the archive. These were on my first ever website under the heading 'Fantasy' of the portfolio section. There were some really creative images on there that I'm pleased to be able to share with you again now. These images were all on that page because I felt like the image had a bit of story or narrative to it that made it more than just a photograph of a person. I love images that make you think about them a bit more or foster a curiosity about what's in the image and things about the person depicted. It makes the work a lot more meaningful.
Caged: 2015

This first image taken by Dave and Yvonne in their home studio is just beautifully feminine. The 'dress' is actually just fabric wrapped around me and clipped at the back, but it just works!
Captive: 2018

This gritty image from Sam Wolf I really love because of the expression. Theres a defiance there that really makes the image for me. I also love how it's been edited, as it adds to the whole vibe. You're left wondering what events led to this moment and what would happen next.
Carnival: 2017

I've mentioned this set from Mick Szabo before and I will be doing a blog post specifically on these images at some point because it would be rude not to. But anyway, I remember explaining my idea to Mick for this image and he didn't sound convinced but took the photos anyway. Then he went home and absolutely nailed the editing to get it even better than I had pictured. Also, I remember that room being completely disgusting.
Crown: 2017

Crown of thorns on a location shoot with Paul Shanley. It wasn't around Easter time, unfortunately... it was October but it was actually quite a lovely day. The pose here is what makes this image for me.
Elf: 2018

This one was taken in Michael Palmer's home studio. It was fun dressing up as an elf and getting to look a little bit feral for a change.
Fortune Teller: 2018

I did a few shoots with Dragontooth (his real name is Andy) and they were always really fun because he had some quirky ideas and interesting props/outfits. I loved this one especially, dressed as a sort of fortune teller, with the strong light coming in from the side. If I remember rightly, this was actually taken in the corridor outside of the studio we were using!
Gentlemen: 2017

Kevin Sheldon is great for outfits and I think we nailed this androgynous and timeless look here. Again, you look at this image and have questions about the story here.
Magic: 2015

Another shot from Dave and Yvonne, beautifully edited to look like I have some kind of ice magic that I'm about to unleash on someone. I just think it's a fun image!
Mask: 2017

Michael Szabo coming in again with a mask and a cool edit. I feel like I should be offended by the number of times he asks me to wear a mask really... but the images always turn out really really well.
Mermaid: 2019

I love this one from Andy Harding taken on one of the trips to Spain at some silly time in the morning so we could get the beach to ourselves. I loved being a mermaid so much. Even though I can't swim.
Reading: 2017

This shot from Joel Bybee has a soft feminine vibe to it and was included in the fantasy section because I thoroughly enjoy reading fantasy. No idea what the book in the image was though, it was just a prop.
Saber: 2015

I got to be a bit nerdy with Phil Lonergan on our first shoot together back when I first started modelling. I quite enjoy shooting with a lightsaber and have done similar images several times since obviously.
Smoke: 2019

This image taken by Howard Gould has a cool film noir vibe to it that I really like. Again, smoking is bad unless it's to look cool in a photograph, but it does work well for this type of image.
Streets: 2018

I remember when Lee Rowland came to me with this idea and I thought it was really cool. It was a chilly October evening so shooting wasn't comfortable. We were working with very low levels of available light which takes time to find and set up for. But the result really worked well and there's definitely a story there!
Vampire: 2015

Playing a vampire trying to stay out of the light was fun with Patrick Hickley.
White: 2018

And to finish, this wonderful image from Dinah Jayes. Every image from Dinah was wonderfully feminine and pretty, with lots of white flowing material and soft focus. I'm definitely a fan of the work we produced together.
That's all from me for today, I hope you've enjoyed looking through these images and come up with some backstory for them from your own imagination. Thanks for taking the time to read this post today and I look forward to sharing more with you next Monday!

This was a really cool and interesting read that gave some wonderful extra depth to the already incredible pictures throughout!
