Happy Monday and Merry Christmas!
After today, there's only one more Monday before Christmas! Eek, that's so exciting and quite scary. Every year I find the run up to December quite stressful, then as soon as December hits it seems to really drag for the first two weeks before it feels like we go at super speed until Christmas Day when we try to cram in all of the last minute shopping, festive activities and visits to family and friends that we need to see before the big day.
Christmas is my favourite time of year without a doubt and anyone who knows me will know this. I get really excited celebrating anything really, but Christmas is the absolute best. Its not even about the day itself for me: its the run up to Christmas, the festive feeling, the lights and the way we all seem to find a way to be a little bit nicer to each other around this time of year. It's so beautiful.
As well as getting in a few festive shoots, I've been trying to maximise the amount of Christmas activities I'm doing with my daughter. She's at the age now where it's all wonderful and magical for her little brain and it's so amazing. That's why I've been a little more quiet than usual on my social media, so if you've been missing me, I apologise: I've just been in the Christmas zone. There are lots of exciting Misuzu related things planned for 2026, so definitely keep an eye out for those coming your way in January.
All of the images in this post were taken by Dave Edkins on our last group shoot: The Christmas Themed Group Shoot. It was a really wonderful shoot, with some lovely photographers... And a special guest was there too! My daughter had to join us last minute for the shoot, which made it a little bit more stressful for me, but a lot more enjoyable for everyone else as they had on site entertainment for when they weren't shooting. A special thanks to Dave for calming me down before the shoot when I was panicking about having to bring my mini me along, and thanks to Amy at the studio and the photographers on the group shoot for making it wayyyy less stressful than it was in my head. Sometimes when you're self employed with a toddler, it's going to have to be 'bring your feral child to work day' and it all worked out well this time.
Anyway, on to the images.
Again, here are Dave's links and if you haven't already, go and follow him because he's great and I'm not at all biased! You can find him on Instagram, Threads, PurplePort and E-photozine.
Miss Santa
So, you may have noticed from looking at the blog post last week that part of my 'thing' for Christmas shoots has always been dressing as Miss Santa. I just think it's cute! And of course, it suits me, don't you think ;)
All jokes aside, I bought this outfit this year because unfortunately I left my old one when I moved back to Stoke in 2020 and I have been without a Miss Santa dress since. This one is very different to my old one, and for the point I'm at in my life now, I actually prefer it. It feels a lot more classy and grown up. It's one of those outfits that when I put it on, I just feel confident. I hope you like it as much as I do and I hope that these images do it justice.
Santa Hat
I tend to shy away from hats of any kind (unless it's a backwards snap back that I'm rocking on my days off) but photographers seem to love them and I'm often asked to wear them on shoots. I still try to avoid hats as much as possible and anyone who's worked with me will probably have noticed that I groan internally when they ask me to wear a hat.
But.
With it being Christmas, obviously a Santa hat has to be on the cards. And there were actually quite a few images from this set that I really liked, despite my general distain for hats of any kind.
What Christmas shoot involving a Santa hat would be complete without the classic 'holding the bobble' shot or two.
Lingerie
On the group shoot, after we had shot the Miss Santa outfit on the infinity curve, I suddenly noticed the lovely Christmassy backdrop that was just staring me right in the face from the other side of the studio. I said to Dave that we should shoot on it and he responded, 'I asked you where you wanted to shoot and you said on the white!'... he's correct, but that's only because I hadn't seen the lovely backdrop as it was behind me when we walked in (this is my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
Of course, we had to shoot on it, so I grabbed my red lingerie set and we shot on it. I absolutely love how these turned out.
And then some closer shots because why not. The lighting Dave set up here is just perfect for this set, he knows exactly what I'm going for before I do and this is why we work so well together.
Magic Box
These next images are from a set that I had decided that I wanted to do but we hadn't practiced before the shoot. I wanted to get shots of me in Christmas pjs looking into a box where the only light source was coming from inside, so it looked like I'd just opened a wonderful, magical gift. The Christmas pjs I bought along were the ones I had got for me and my daughter for our matching pjs this year. They weren't the most photogenic and they were definitely oversized (because I like to be comfy), but it was great to have me and my little one in our pjs running around the studio.
We got some lovely shots of me and Pixie together looking into the box for the family album, but these are the ones of me that I really liked. I had a brain wave half way through that if I vaped into the box then we could have some smoke coming out of the box, dancing in the natural light coming off the fairy lights. It just added a little bit of something else to these shots that makes them even more magical. I converted one to black and white because I'm a sucker for monochrome imagery, but I definitely prefer the colour on these ones generally.
More Miss Santa because it's just a fabulous outfit!
I bet you thought I was done with the Miss Santa images, but I've decided to add in a few more because there were so many from this set that I really really liked... it would have been a shame not share them with you.
Bauble
And finally, here is me dressed as Miss Santa, holding a red bauble with my little grich-esque hand. Very festive.

Make sure to come back next week for more lovely festive images, and make sure you stay safe and have the most wonderful Christmas!
